There are a number of things that practices give to patients in the course of their usual activities, which need to have their costs reclaimed from the NHS.
This includes Personally Administered items.
The list of items that are “Personally Administered” is long. The definitive list can be found on the NHS Business Services Authority website
These are items that a patient “wears”, such as:
- anaesthetics
- injections
- Intrauterine device (IUD)
- contraceptive caps and diaphragms
- pessaries listed as appliances
- skin adhesives listed in the Drug Tariff
- sutures and skin closure strips listed in the Drug Tariff
