Weekly Hints and Tips

QOF alerts – Consider lipid lowering therapy

EMIS users have have noticed the return of QOF alerts to Consider lipid lowering therapy when the patient is already on a relevant drug. EMIS has not yet updated their alerts for 2024/25, so the alert for last year’s CHOL001 will be showing. We highlighted the same issue last year and advised that it would disappear on 1st October.

EMIS’ Cholesterol statin alert is a deviation from previous medication issue related QOF indicator alerts – including the current DM006, DM022, DM023 alerts – which use a rolling 6 months to only show where a patient was not taking the required medication.

We recommend all clinicians are advised to ignore this particular cholesterol alert until October. If you feel strongly that the alert is a mistake, submit a case on EMIS Now, suggesting that the rolling 6 months used in other indicators causes fewer obstacles for clinicians trying to work out what needs to be done.

SystmOne Tip – Priority Status

When adding patients to a waiting list you can a priority status to help you identify patients that are needed to be called in sooner than others. When adding the patient to the waiting list it gives you an option to add a priority.

Alongside this you can also see which patients have been removed from a waiting list by right clicking on the waiting list and selecting view history.
